The Curse – Genesis 3:17-19 & Romans 8:20-21 

The futility, frustration, burdensomeness and painfulness of work is due to the curse 

God’s Workmanship – Ephesians 2:8-10 

My work does not bear the weight of having to save me 

God steps in and does the work by making me new in Christ 

I am created in Christ for good work 

God prepared that work for me 

Restful Work – Matthew 11:28-30 

I have meaningful work (yoke) to do as I follow Christ  

But in that work (yoke) there is a restfulness of spirit that is free from the curse 

God’s Strength for My Work – 1 Peter 4:11 

I receive strength and help from God.  He gets the glory.  Work is delivered from its burdensome cursedness 

God’s Grace for My Work – 1 Corinthians 15:10 

God supplies me with the grace which enables and propels me into hard, satisfying work 

In Whatever I Do – 1 Corinthians 15:58 & Colossians 3:23-24  

Do lots of God’s work (abound), in his name, for his glory and in reliance on him 

All my work is worship 

A work prayer 

May my work be produced by faith, my labor prompted by love and my endurance inspired by hope in my Lord Jesus Christ today
